you will probably end up buying both the 24-70 f2.8 and the 70-200 f2.8 and keep the 24-120 f4 for extended zoom range AND have a range of primes as well. That is where most pros that shoot a range of things, including natural light portraits, find themselves after a number of years.
And also own a 300 f2.8 VR and 500 f4 AF-S. The 70-200 f2.8 VR is both versatile and sharp on all three of my cameras: D300, D300s and D7100. And it has some useful range for wildlife with the TC-14E. With DX I just can't see giving up the shallow DOF with all three of my current long lenses.
I shot on Canon APSC DSLR in the past with 70-200/F4 and now use D7200 with 70-200/F2.8. I reviewed my photos from last couple of years and there were a significant number at 200mm. The Fuji zoom goes only to 140mm. Recently, Fuji has 40MP bodies, which give crop option. That option wasn't available earlier.

While I keep seeing that the 70-200 f/2.8 G2 is really good and a worthy alternative to the vastly more expensive Nikon versions, the f/4 version just looked like crap in the review. If you have the money for the Nikon, get that, or consider if you want the extra stop of speed from the Tamron f/2.8 G2.

The 70-200 mm 2.8 will give me an professional grade lens in a range that I use very often. With the TC, it will also give me the extended range that I sorely miss for the occasional birding / fleet week / wildlife shooting / super moon opportunity. I am very tempted to go with this option.
